Workin the slayer :D

1:27 could use a smoother change up, the whole section there could use touching up IMO, it doesn't sound bad but it could definitely sound better. Once again, gotta work on closing out the song lol. Other than that solid song, harmonized nicely and has a good flow to it (for the most part) Gave you a 5 cuz i voted before listening to that section XD.

Kinda simple...

But not necessarily bad, it sounded like rap to me but it was a bit long, shoulda just stuck with the main riff and made it a loop. Mighta gotten better reviews i think.
Def not bad startin out though.

Needs a bit of work

One thing that got me was the saw(i'm assuming that was the foreground instrument) how you used it. It sounded like the timing was off a bit and some of the notes didn't sound like they fit in the key you happened to be using. Drumbeat needs a bit of work especially in your transitions.
However when you introduced the piano and finished the song out i was glad I really listened to the whole thing.

Lastly the baseline all but disappears in the section before the piano is introduced around 2:28 anyway fix all that up and i think you'll have something here.

nameless11 responds:

I agree wholeheartedly on the drum parts...but i find no problems with the foreground instrument, the timing suits the song and the melody to me sounds pretty good, the only small flaw with it was maybe the buildups.

You needs some learnin

sounds like you're trying to cross over into a techno version of the song, first off your sounds overlap each other a lot so you can only hear the main riff most the time. Second you gotta be more picky about the sounds cuz the main sound was kinda flat for the song you chose. anyway at least you got the beat and rhythm down

Not Bad

Honestly the song isnt that bad but with the FL slayer you picked the wrong category to place the song in (I've done it before, somehow it got kinda popular though o_O?). If you listen to other heavy metal songs on here they're using a real guitar.
Personally i think this would be pretty popular in the video game section.

Ruddy88 responds:

thanks dude, i was thinking of redoing this with some real guitar sf2's but i kinda like the slayer guitar now after listening to it a few times.
Ill try changing the category and see how we go though, thanks for the input

Nice Build up

I really like how you set up the drum scheme in this even if you used a preset. Another thing i liked was that you used speedy drums with a slow tune.

Ruddy88 responds:

thanks man, i know its just a preset but yeah i did work around alot finding what fit where.
My cousin referred to this as celtic drum n bass haha

very nice sir

i can honestly say i listened to this about five times in a row before commenting. Loved it, the only part I wasnt sure about was at 1:48 initially i thought was too fast by a fraction of a second but the more i listened to it it seemed to fit in better and better.

needs a bit of work

I'm not gonna lie, its really REALLY too simple. you need a bassline or strings to set up a background and a second melody to compliment what you have going on here.

The best advice i can tell you is to listen to other trance songs, listen to the number of instruments, how they fit in, and how they compliment each other.

music is like painting a picture if you missing one part it really doesnt seem as great as what you might have imagined at first, take out the sky in starry night and all you have is a random city with a few swirls above it.
